Since, the blockage disrupts the process of fertilisation, it directly impacts the fertility and sexual health. The affected tubes may prevent the sperm and eggs from fertilisation and the embryo may not reach the uterus due to the blockage. This would result in prevention of conception and pregnancy. While it is possible to conceive in cases of partial blockage of fallopian tubes, there is always risk of an ectopic pregnancy. In case of both tubes being blocked, conception without treatments such as assisted reproductive technology may not be possible.
